Skillway News 2010
Funding - June
We are extremely grateful to have received very generous donations this month from Angus Lloyd Trust and Guildford Distrct Rotary. Godalming Rotary have very kindly agreed to sponsor us for new workshop equipment including pillar drills and electric sanders. We continue to receive many exceedingly generous donations from individuals; particular mention to two young boys from Aldro School, Harry Gault and Freddie Wooding, who raised over £500 by declining presents from their friends at a joint birthday party in favour of money for Skillway. We remain, as always, humbled by the huge support and goodwill we receive from organisations, Trust Funds and many individuals.A Day on the Wey - June
From the Wharf in Godalming to Unstead Lock for a picnic lunch, six of our students under the instruction of PC Pete Harris, Greg Bleach and Jon Taylor took the two Skillway-built canoes and others on the annual canoe trip down the River Wey. Hard work from some of the students in the workshops was rewarded with a gentle, summer's day paddle on the sun-dappled water under over-hanging branches of the riverbank, sipping cups of..........Never! Fun on the water meant being out of control, collisions, capsizing, and water fights amid screams and peals laughter. Another Skillway 'Can Do' and our enormous thanks to Pete Harris.

Joy Poulter, Mayor of Godalming - May
We have been very fortunate to have had the huge support of Joy Poulter for the past year as one of her chosen charities during her term of office as Mayor. We thank her enormously for the great interest she has taken in our work, for fund raising and for promoting us whenever possible. We wish her and her husband Mike a period of rest and relaxation now.

Guildford Chamber Choir - May
In their 30th Anniversary, we were extrememly grateful to the Guildford Chamber Choir for dedicating the evening's collection from their concert, 'Music for a Summer's Evening', on Saturday 22nd May 2010 to Skillway. The choir was able to add Skillway to their long list of local charities from which they have performed over the past seasons.
Among others, the evening was attended by Godalming's newly elected Mayor, Jane Thomson and her Consort.
