Skillway Celebrates 10 years of the project

On Saturday October 4th 2008, friends, supporters and students past and present came together to celebrate 10 years of operation of the Skillway Project. It was a very successful event with over a hundred people attending.

It also gave us the oppotunity to recognise our first director who sadly died earlier this year, Mr Crispin Hill. A plaque was unvailed by his wife in recognition of his committed service. During the afternoon there was also a presentation of The Crispin Hill Progress Award to a Skillway student. This is a new award to be pesented annually to a student who, in the opinion of the staff and volunteers has made a significant achievment during their time at Skillway.

Visit from Waverley Borough Council - June

Mary Orton, Chief Executive of Waverley came to see the work of Skillway recently and was very complimentary about the efforts of the craftspersons working with the students to produce such fine project work. She also was very supportive of the approach of Skillway towards students who need this kind of practical outlet. We thank her for her kind words and look forward to continued support from Waverley BC .
